Cricket was his favorite sport right from his childhood. He started playing cricket at his home town, Hyderabad, for Student Gymkhana Cricket Club. He played for his school for around 4-years, after schooling he played for his college team as an all-rounder. Appreciating his performance he was asked to captain his college (Government College of Technology, Hyderabad) team from 1979 to 1981. Based on his performance he was selected as an all-rounder for Hyderabad district cricket team in 1981/82. He was also selected in the Hyderabad Division Team and played first class cricket in 1982/83. He played Patrons trophy from Hyderabad division cricket team in 1983/84 along side all the famous test and first class cricketers in different big stadiums.
He joined Qatar Petroleum in April 1985 and from that time he is been playing cricket regularly for Dukhan. Earlier he played in Doha for Kemco Select for around 10-years with season ball as an all-rounder and 5 years as captain. From 1995 he started playing Cricket with veterans in Dukhan and he is still playing for Dukhan Operations. He enjoys his cricket with seniors and juniors as well and is very passionate about the game. One good quality is that he always gives positive comments to all the junior players. Through out his cricketing carrier he had always played positively. He along with Rizwan are the two main pillars of Dukhan Cricket. Under his leadership Dukhan Operations have twice won the Dukhan Chairman’s Cup. Presently he is busy coaching his son.
